KK Girlz Style

Following creative makeup artists is our guilty pleasure when it comes to Instagram, whether it be a cool illusionist account or a trippy eye makeup feed. One of these addicting accounts is Kali Ledger, a German-based makeup artist, and influencer who stuns with her colorful, out-of-the-box makeup looks. Ahead, we chatted with Ledger about where she pulls inspiration from, her holy-grail makeup product and how she makes her own makeup rules.

KK: First of all, thank you for allowing KK girlz style to have a chat with you, so Kali for those who aren't familiar with your work, can you tell them a little about yourself?
KL: Hey there! My name is Kali and I am a German Photographer who loves Beauty and Makeup!

KK: Your not just a professional makeup artist but you are your model and photographer am I right? how did you get into this field?
KL: I used to draw a lot and had a lot of concepts in my head that I wanted to realize. Makeup was just a new medium for me, and I fell in love with it. I use mostly my face for my photography because that means I can stay at home and work at my own time and with no given direction. It's very liberating!

KK: Each of your looks is unique and creative, what's the process like and how much time does one look take to create?
KL: I usually start with the main color, a color combination, a new product, a new technique or find inspiration from other fellow artists. That helps me to get a base and from there I develop a mood and an editing style, I make a light setup and I think about clothing, contacts, hair, and accessories. One look alone can take from 1 to 5 hours to create and that's without retouching or color grading.

KK: Where do you get your inspiration from?
KL: I like to stay away from Makeup Pictures as Inspirations because that leads to Recreation and not Inspiration and that's not a way to create unique pictures. I love to look at paintings, nature, and Moodboards.

KK: Is there a Makeup artist that you look up too?
KL: @vladamua is one of the greatest Lip Artists out there and she is a photographer herself, which is why I admire her work even more. The same goes for @celine_bernaerts who is one of the most inspiration Makeup Artists out there. I am in love with both of them!

KK: How much has the makeup and beauty industry changed your life?
KL: It made me realize that I don't like foundation. It sounds ironic, but I used to wear full coverage foundation, full coverage concealer and so on, now I barely wear a sheer serum foundation and it's all I need. Less foundation, more glitter, and rhinestones! That is my philosophy.

KK: Do you consider makeup an art or self-expression for you?
KL: It's certainly both, I think art is very much self-expression.

KK: Is being a makeup artist is your full-time job or is it just a passion?
KL: It started as a passion, but it's next to my studies a full-time job.

KK: Where do you see yourself in five years?
KL: I would love to move to the US (California) and work from there. I would love to continue my film studies there and just enjoy life!

KK: What are your five favorite beauty products?
KL: @revolutionpro Hydra Matte Setting Powder (the best setting powder that doesn't dry out your skin)
@deciem The Ordinary Serum Foundation (best non-pore clogging foundation)
@mehronmakeup AQ Paint Palette (Best Paint Palette for any face and body paintwork)
@kissproducts Lashes (Lacey) (Lash Brand that everybody can afford and can be reused. Cruelty-free!)
@odenseyecosmetics Lip Stain Gloss (Gloss with staining abilities, can be used on cheeks as well!)

We turn green with envy when we see someone else rocking green eyeshadow. There’s just something so cool yet luxurious about the clover color. Choosing the right shade of green eye makeup for ourselves, however, has proven difficult in the past. You too? Well, we’ve put together a cheat sheet of the green eyeshadows that best complement fair, medium and deep skin tones, ahead. Spoiler alert: Knowing the undertones of your skin is key when it comes to finding your perfect green shadow.

The Best Green Eyeshadows for Light Skin Tones

YSL Full Metal Liquid Eyeshadow in Misty Green
To really make your rosy, fair skin tone pop, try a cool-colored liquid shadow like Misty Green. This highly pigmented formula can be built up to an opaque all-over-the-lid finish or dabbed on lightly for a more subtle look.

Lime Crime Venus XL 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Light skin tones do well with sage-y browns and soft limes, which is why Venus XL 2 is a perfect collection of shadows to add to your makeup collection. Opt for shades like Sage, Ivy or Myth for a softer finish, or go totally bold with Obscure.

The Best Green Eyeshadows for Medium Skin Tones

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeshadow in C-Note
Medium skin tones look stunning in teal green, which makes C-note a total no-brainer. This lush, gemstone-colored shadow it perfect for applying all over the lid for a full-beat finish or just in the crease for a pop of color.

NYX Professional Makeup Vivid Brights Crème Colour in Get Money
For a strikingly bright, matte green finish, try popping on a touch of Get Money all over the lids. This pop-art-colored shadow will add major dimension to medium skin tones in just a few swipes.

The Best Green Eyeshadows for Deep Skin Tones

Maybelline New York City Mini Palette in Urban Jungle
This six-pan palette contains shades that complement deep skin tones beautifully, thanks to cool undertones and some golden gleam. Apply a forest green shade on the crease, metallics on the lid and a light green shadow in the inner corners of the eyes for major pop.
Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in IRL
Golden-hued pastel green doesn’t get much better than IRL, and it looks especially breathtaking on deep skin tones thanks to its frosty finish. Apply this by itself for a glistening finish, or pack it on over a matte green shadow for some extra sparkle.

We strive to be as effortlessly chic as Zendaya. The 23-year-old Lancôme Ambassadress always looks so poised and polished, yet badass at the same time. Sigh. But, since we all can’t be Zendaya, we’ll settle for being able to copy her glam look, complete with a burgundy smoky eye and a nude lip, from one of her latest appearances in New York City. To launch the fragrance, Lancôme Idôle, Zendaya stepped out on the pink carpet with a richly colored makeup look, created by celebrity makeup artist Sheika Daley and inspired by her TommyNow Tommy x Zendaya collection with Tommy Hilfiger, coming this weekend. Get her to look, ahead, in just 11 steps:

STEP 1: Starting with the base of the look, use a lighter shade of the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation on the center of the face and blend it together with a darker shade on the perimeter of the face for a natural-looking contour.

STEP 2: To set the foundation and keep shine away, use the Lancôme Long Time No Shine Setting Powder in Translucent on your T-Zone and Lancôme Dual Finish Foundation on the perimeter of your face.

STEP 3: Highlight your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose with Lancôme Dual Finish Highlighter in 03 Radiant Rose Gold.

STEP 4: For blush, apply Lancôme Blush Subtil in Make It Pop to the apples of your cheeks. Then, use Lancôme Star Bronzer in 05 Golden to bronze and contour the face.

STEP 5: Set your makeup with Lancôme Fix it & Forget It Setting Spray to help keep your beat in place all day and night.

STEP 6: Prime the base of your eyelids for shadow with Lancôme Prime It Boost It.

STEP 7: Create a smoky eye using the ‘BIG NIGHT’ shades of the Lancôme Monsieur Big Hearts Palette. Then, using the shimmery “BIG CRUSH” shades, add dimension in the center of the lid, and highlight to the inner corner and brow bone.

STEP 8: Using Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in 11 Café Serre, apply liner to your upper and lower waterline to complete the smoky effect.

STEP 9: Using Lancôme Artliner in Noir, line your upper lash line and apply two or three coats of Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara on your top and bottom lashes.

STEP 10: Fill in your eyebrows for a full, natural look with Lancôme Brow Define Pencil in 12 Dark Brown and brush out the hairs.

STEP 11: Line your lips with Lancôme Le Lip Liner in Charme and apply it to the center of your lips as a base color before finishing them off with a layer Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Tickled Pink for shine.

Your brows are perhaps the easiest feature on your face to alter with makeup, whether you use concealer to achieve a bleached-out look, or heavy pencil to nail down that maximalist Instagram brow. Because eyebrows frame the face, changing your brow shape might seem intimidating at first, so we put together a step-by-step tutorial featuring three easy ways to bump up or tone down your look. Whether you prefer your brows fluffy, polished or defined, here’s how to change their shape like a pro.

The Fluffy Boy Brow

STEP 1:  The fluffy brow begins with the right tool — here, we used the NYX Professional Makeup Fill & Fluff Eyebrow Pomade Pencil. Using the paddle brush side, comb through your brow in a rapid, upward motion to fluff out and elongate each hair.

STEP 2: Next, with a light hand, use the pencil-pomade to softly fill in any sparse areas on the brow until it appears full and even.

STEP 3: Once filled in, comb back through the hairs with the paddle end of the pencil to softly blend out the pigment, leaving you with a soft, voluminous finish.

The Perfectly Polished Brow

STEP 1: Using the Maybelline New York TattooStudio Waterproof Eyebrow Gel, comb upward through your brows with the spoolie to create definition and add color.

STEP 2: Use the tip of the spoolie to define the tail of the brow.

The Defined Instagram Brow

STEP 1: For a super clean but maximalist brow look, use the Maybelline TattooStudio Brow Pomade with a dual-ended angled brush and spoolie. Start by applying color to the brow with the angled brush, working your way upward.

STEP 2: Next, draw on your desired brow shape using the pomade and angled brush, extending it outward to the very tail of your brow hair.

STEP 3: Once your shape is intact, comb through the brow with the spoolie end of your brush for a clean finish.

Ahead, find five of the best body highlighters for a glimmering, lava-like glow.

This $15 face and body luminizer by L’Oréal Paris is becoming one of our go-tos this summer. Not only is it super affordable but it also serves as a great dupe for any high-end or luxe version. It’s highly pigmented and leaves behind a dewy, luminous finish.

NYX Professional Makeup California Beamin’ Face and Body Bronzer
If you prefer a powder formula, try California Beamin’ by NYX. This body bronzer comes in six glowing shades, perfect for contouring or mixing and matching as you please. Better yet, it gives you a radiant, sunkissed finish without any real sun.

Dermablend Glow Creator Drops
The Glow Creator Drops by Dermablend are perfect for mixing with a body moisturizer or all-over foundation. In Pearl and Gold, these drops allow you to add a little warm or cool spark to your head-to-toe regimen.

Sol De Janiero Glowmotions Rio Sunset Glow Oil
For a fairy-dust glow all over, try Rio Sunset. This hydrating oil formula can be used anywhere on the body and contains a ton of light-reflecting pearls and an addicting scent. It also absorbs into the skin super easily and is grease-free.

Lancôme Custom Glow Highlighting Drops
The Lancôme Custom Highlighting Drops are spot on if you’re looking for a ton of pigment and shine in an effortless way. These drops allow you to strobe your shoulders, arms or legs however you please with a coin-sized amount of product — meaning the entire bottle will last you for months to come.

Well if you are on the internet you may see a lot of people with lip fillers, whether it's celebrities, Instagram Models or influencers, everyone has lip fillers and they are most likely the reason you want to get lip fillers but before you decide to get them to make sure you know these facts and tips so you don't get weird looking lips or something you did not expect.

Let's be honest, for girls out there with thin lips its kind of a struggle but if you look at the bright side you can always use a liner or a liquid lipstick to adjust the lip shape but that's not the point. it's not as a piece of cake thingy as you might but even though getting your lips injected is about as common as getting your hair highlighted (Thanks to Instagram). But let me remind you that lip augmentation is a real procedure with real risks when done incorrectly. And as much as I’m sure you’d love to hurry up and get those plump lips you’ve always wanted, take some time to consider all the facts first.

Something I recently found out that fillers can get you blind, your skin can start falling and you might get an allergic reaction but well these are not the full list of side effects, the list can go on and on. so before you head out to get your lips have done here's what you should know.

How do fillers work?
As we age, the skin loses laxity, volume, and subcutaneous fat. Dermal fillers which are naturally derived such as hyaluronic acid can be injected into the skin to plump, add volume to the area or soften facial lines or wrinkles.

How much are they?
From £190 for a single treatment with the nurse, up to £1320 for a masseter treatment with the medical director.

Are there risks involved?
As with any procedure, surgical or non-surgical, there is always an element of risk involved. However, with the correct administration of the injections, the risks associated with naturally derived dermal fillers are rare and minimal. These can vary from a little bruising to lumps around the area.

What are these lumps and why do they happen?
They are usually inside the lip so cannot be seen on the outside, however, if you feel the lip from the inside they can be felt. Sometimes too much product is injected, resulting in it looking for a space to sit in. If minor, they will disappear with time. If the lumps are more noticeable, we can inject a substance to make them disappear. They could occur with too thick a filler and they are more likely to show up with a patient who has thin lips as space wherein you are injecting is small.

What are the risks of having hyaluronic acid filler in your lips?
Lip fillers should be administered in a safe and sterile environment by a fully trained practitioner who can exhibit good results in order to avoid disfigurement. Unfortunately, the treatment is often portrayed as a ‘beauty treatment’ and offered at slashed prices in an unsterile environment, leading to many unregulated establishments acting unethically. In these cases, there are great risks with lip fillers such as: infection, bruising, necrosis, and disfigurement. A lack of care and experience heightens these risks, so people should do thorough research on the establishment and the practitioner offering the treatment and not be lured into cheap options.

Why is it so often very noticeable?
Some patients use fillers to add volume to areas of the face where natural fat has depleted such as around the eyes and the cheeks. When administered in the correct way, you should get natural-looking results. However, sometimes the results can look unnatural when too much filler is placed in these areas which makes the face look puffy. The best approach is “less is more”. More filler can always be added, but it is more difficult to take away if you’ve gone overboard. When you are over 50, problems can also arise as the loss of facial volume is too significant and so the results are less subtle. At this age, you might need to tighten and lift the skin with a facelift. The reason you see so many bad cases of fillers is because the media sensationalize the worst ‘botched’ cases, but generally speaking, you can achieve very natural looking results when administered correctly.

Who is an ideal candidate for the treatment?
Dermal fillers are a fantastic option for those that have imperfections and irregularities on the face. They can help with superficial problems such as wrinkles and lines, small and thin lips, dents or contours in the face, hollows under the eyes, and even irregularities with the nose.

How young can you be to have the treatment?
Fillers aren’t usually necessary for the face until your forties which is when you may start to notice a visible loss of volume in the skin. On the other hand, lip fillers can be offered at a younger age, particularly as they are part of a growing non-surgical trend at the moment. I would not recommend lip fillers for anyone who has not yet reached their mid-twenties, but this is also dependent on whether or not they will be considered as a good candidate.

What are the worst side effects?
Side effects are rare but you may experience: bruising, redness, swelling and in some cases, you may see or feel little bumps under the skin. Sometimes, but not often, these bumps will be permanent. In the worst case scenario, you could be left with extreme swelling or bumps, then the adverse effects can be treated with Hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler.

I hope these tips are helpful for you before you get an appointment to ger lip fillers and if these were helpful please let me know by following us on our socials. <3
