10 Fall Makeup Trends (and the Best Products for the Job)
It’s not truly fall until you swipe on your first moody lipstick and smudge on your first smoky eye. And this season is full of exciting new color trends that’ll have you willing all things autumn to start tomorrow. Here are ten makeup styles we’re so looking forward to rocking for the next three months (at least).
PINCHED CHEEKS
You know the natural color your cheeks turn when you step out on the first crisp day? That’s the look you should go for. Tip: Check out the inside of your lip in the mirror to identify your truest blushy tone.
EMERALD SMOKY EYE
We’ll take any excuse to rock a smoky eye, and this season’s hero hue is emerald. Line your top and bottom lids and then smudge, smudge, smudge.
POWER LIPS
True-blue red lips exude major confidence. Big meeting? Rock a soft matte red and set it with translucent powder so it stays put no matter what.
HOT PINK LIDS
If you think fall is only about jewel tones, boy are you in for a treat. This season, experiment with neon pink hues on your lids for an unexpected departure from the norm. Skip the black liner for day, but rim both waterlines for more drama come nighttime.
SUPER LASHES
Get your hands on some eyelash serum, pick out a set of falsies, or grab a mascara that will do the heavy lifting for you. Whatever your preferred technique, you’re going to want fuller, longer lashes by fall.
’90S LIPS
Everyone’s favorite throwback decade is still going strong, and we’re super happy to report that grungy lips made the cut—from brown to burnt orange to visible lip liner. It’s all happening.
BLUE EYELINER
Cobalt is back, and—bonus—it naturally it naturally brightens your eyes by drawing out golden tones in your actual iris.
MAJOR BROWS
Yes, Riri sported razor-thin brows on the September issue of British Vogue, but please, resist the urge to pluck anything but stray hairs. (Barely-there brows are not back in style yet, thank goodness.) Just enhance what your mama gave you with a pencil and some gel.
GLITTER LIDS
Remember the roll-on glitter you used as a preteen? We’ve come so far. Grab lid lacquer and some loose glitter for major drama, or just pop some sparkly highlighter in the center for a subtle, light-catching effect.
PUNK-INSPIRED EYE MAKEUP
Think of this as the smoky eye’s edgy older sister, with kohl eyeliner pulling most of the weight. Just be sure to prep your lids with an eye shadow primer so nothing migrates or creases.
